A24 Media. An African Voice telling the African Story
A24 Media (http://a24media.com), Africa’s first online delivery site for African content, continues to make huge strides in telling the African story to the world, and making a name for itself as the number one go-to source for high quality local content on African issues for international and local broadcasters, by signing up new partnerships with content providers and buyers.
A24 Media recently partnered with Africa Business News (ABN), owners and distributors of CNBC Africa in Africa, and People TV of France who now join the 13 member-countries of the Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA), Nation Media Group, the leading multi-media house in East and Central Africa, Ethiopia’s Gem TV, Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation and other major media houses in Africa who are contributing regularly to the A24 Media platform.
Other new freelance and broadcast contributors from Germany, Nigeria, Togo, South Africa and the United Kingdom have also signed up to A24 Media. Stories are now being sought and bought by media houses from the USA, Germany, Poland, the Ukraine, Netherlands, Australia, India and other countries in Europe and Africa.
“We knew when we launched A24 Media that we were offering a much-needed service to many journalists and broadcasters across the world, and its positive uptake despite the global economic downturn confirms this for us. We’re very optimistic about what 2009 has in store for us,” noted Asif Sheikh, CEO and co-founder of A24 Media.
The company has now uploaded far more than 100 news stories to www.a24media.com and continues to diversify the content available on the site. Recently, A24 Media introduced a cartoon section on the website, featuring the talent and work of Godfrey Mwampembwa, also known as GADO. GADO is the most syndicated Political/Editorial cartoonist in East and Central Africa and is a regular contributor to New African (UK), Courier International (France), Business Day and Sunday Tribune (SA). His works have also been published in Le Monde (France), The Guardian of London and Japan Times and he has published 3 books. Winner of the Kenya National Human Rights Commission 2005 and the 2007 Award in Journalism, GADO is delighted to have his work published on A24 Media, saying “A24 Media offers unique opportunities for Africans to communicate to the world from their own perspective, which doesn’t happen as often as it should. As Africans we now also have a chance to show the world the quality of our work and to up our game to match and beat international standards. This gives us an exciting opportunity to develop our local media more rapidly.”
A24 Media has also introduced a health and environment category featuring stories from Burkina Faso to Zambia and Mali and has updated the business categories with timely news stories focusing on business in light of the 2010 World Cup to be held in South Africa, and uploaded several new features from Nigeria as well.
